On the road...
Well I find myself down in Southampton for an interview at the Uni. The job is working with a guy who I used to work with out in Australia so I have a few good connections already. The interview was this afternoon and I got 2 hours of chatting and getting to know Jeremy who would be my immediate boss and also his boss Bill. Both very nice guys and very "work-able-with". Got a tour around the labs which from the outside are very unimpressive. The campus buildings are concrete 70's monstrosities and they are planning to move to a brand new a new building by spring 2009. Anyway... inside the old, is a LOT of new. In Sydney, some universities have one laser scanning confocal microscope for instance, in Southampton, they have two of each kind possible (worth about 2million quid all together)! So needless to say they have a lot more gadgets and new toys to play with.
So for your entertainment I have included a few snaps from Southampton. Hopefully I will get a few more shots from around and about tomorrow morning before i jump on the train to London.
View from my window, over a park... its OK.
I thought the rooms were just big but then I realised they had put me in a disabled access room which has lots of room and a low sided bath etc... durr!
For those of you not hailing from the UK my current location is shown on the map.
And in more detail...
